About

I guess you could say my dance training began on Grays Avenue in Southwest Philly at age 9 when I began heckling my neighbor, Tiffany, to teach me what she had learned in dance class each week.  Soon I was choreographing dances with a combination of whatever knowledge I could soak up from Tiff and the inventions of my own overflowing imagination!  After about a year and a half of my persistence, her mother Carol decided she would be a helping hand in getting me to that dance studio for my own dance class.  All they had to do is show me where the studio was and it was all history from there!  This kid just started showing up every day whether she had class or not.  The studio became my home.  Thank you Tiff and Carol! :)

From Kathi’s Dance Studio I attended the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA).  I later went on to receive scholarships to The University of the Arts, Philadanco, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.  My dancing and choreography has carried me to many places and experiences nationally and internationally including a month long teaching and performance residency in Taiwan at the Dream Community where I was privileged to work with over a thousand children.

I now work most often with two groups.  Since 2005 I have been working as choreographer, director, and performer for ArcheDream for Humankind, a blacklight mask acting and dance company.  And since 2007, I have been the sole choreographer for the Golden Crown Fancy Brigade who compete in the New Years Day Parade each year.

In an attempt to feed my insatiable desire to teach and choreograph,  I also enjoy teaching dance classes at Pennsport School of Dance and Janice’s Dance Works as well as working free lance both as a choreographer and a performer.

Though I work in many styles ranging from physical comedy to ballroom to classical ballet, I’d say my favorite style to choreograph is Modern Dance or something I’ve made up that doesn’t quite have a name yet.  I like to tell a story in my work.  I love people and the human experience.  I believe this is what makes my work relatable to many audiences regardless of the style in which it is choreographed.  Thank you for taking an interest.
